How Memento Jar Makes Money (and What We Don't Do With Your Data)
Memento Jar is free to download and free to use. That has to be paid for somehow, so we'd rather just say plainly how, instead of leaving you to wonder.
The short answer
Memento Jar shows ads through Google AdMob. If you'd rather not see them, a one-time in-app purchase removes them for good — no subscription, no recurring charge, no upsells standing between you and your own memories.
What "ad-supported" actually means here
The ads you see are served and measured by Google's ad network, the same one running in a huge share of free apps. Google handles the delivery, the targeting, and the measurement according to its own privacy practices — we don't build our own advertising or tracking systems, and we don't see or touch whatever data Google's network collects to do that job.
What we never do
- We don't sell your data. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone. There's nothing of yours to sell in the first place — your memories live in a local database on your device, and that's true whether or not you've ever seen an ad in the app.
- We don't use your memories to target ads. What you write, photograph, or record never leaves your device, so it's never available to feed into anything — ad-related or otherwise.
- We don't require an account to see ads or to remove them. Buying the ad-free upgrade is a straightforward one-time purchase processed through the App Store or Google Play, the same way any app purchase works.
Why "your memories aren't for sale" is still true
That line on our homepage isn't about whether ads exist — it's about what happens to the actual content you create. It doesn't. Ads pay for keeping Memento Jar free and keeping the lights on; they were never going to be paid for with your memories, and they aren't.
